The adjacent image is a diagram of the DCS-20’s cleaning system. High pressure air, water is flushed through the DPF expelling ash and soot. The impurities are then filtered out and the water flows into the water tank to continue the cleaning process.
Cleaning SCR
A faulty Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing module is a common issue that can lead to white powder buildup in the SCR, causing clogs and engine codes. The DEF module relies on readings from the NOx sensors to determine how much fluid to inject into the exhaust. This module contains both a pump and nozzle and is located between the DPF and SCR, typically requiring 24–30 inches of exhaust tubing with mixing baffles. If malfunctioning, it may inject too little or too much DEF, which affects the SCR's performance. Additionally, SCRs soaked in coolant or oil can become permanently damaged and stop working altogether. Over time, even with proper care, SCRs can wear out and lose effectiveness, sometimes as early as 600,000 miles—similar to worn-out tires. Feel free to contact us to go over your specific situation.
